Nokia has released a dedicated downloadable Ramadan Calendar app for this Ramadan that is intended to let its users to contribute into their desired charities.

Nokia has released a dedicated downloadable Ramadan Calendar app for this Ramadan that is intended to let its users to contribute into their desired charities.


For every Ramadan Calendar app installed in the Nokia Facebook page of UAE, Nokia will make a donation of AED5 to one of three particular charities counting Dubai Autism Centre, UAE Red Crescent and the Children with Cancer Support Organization.

 

The calendar application will also let users to right to use day-to-day digital gifts in Ramadan-centric information form such as daily fasting tips, Islamic stories, prizes, images, and many more. 



"This year, Nokia is once again showing its understanding of regional culture and its commitment to the local community through the launch of the Ramadan Campaign. We are all about connecting people and this Holy Month we encourage people to embrace the spirit of the occasion by helping us to connect with and give to those who are more in need ," said Tom Farrell, general manager, Nokia Lower Gulf.

 

This year, Nokia also has developed some other apps for Ramadan as well as a Prayer Times apps, Holy Quran app, a Qibla Direction app, Hadeeth apps, a Zakah Calculator, Mozzaker apps and Boyoot Allah apps.

 

There are some social apps also, allowing consumers to stay in touch in excess of the Ramadan term. Those include Whatsapp, Ramadan Greetings, FourSquare, themes and Facebook and ringtone apps include SawomMaqbool, TaherQalby, Nour Ramadan and Ramadan Kareem. All apps are available on the Nokia Ovi Store and these can be billed directly to user's Etisalat phone postpaid or prepaid accounts.

 

"Over 600,000 Ramadan applications were downloaded in the Middle East from the Ovi Store during the Holy Month in 2010 while the Quran app recorded over one million downloads in the Middle East last year. These figures underline the leadership of the NokiaOvi Store and with the latest and freshest apps ready for easy download, it shows how Nokia strives to further enhances our users' experience through deeper engagement," Tom Farrell added.
