In the first match of the current NatWest series, Sri Lanka was defeated to England in the first ODI match by 110 runs. In that match, Sri Lanka was able to score 121 runs only in order to chase 229 runs of England.

In the first match of the current NatWest series, Sri Lanka was defeated to England in the first ODI match by 110 runs. In that match, Sri Lanka was able to score 121 runs only in order to chase 229 runs of England. But in the second ODI of the series the result is totally opposite. Sri Lanka won over England by 69 runs. Sri Lanka started batting first and added 309 runs on the scoreboard losing 5 wickets only based on the excellent century of Jayawardene. On the other hand, England was able to reach only 240 runs becoming all out in 45.5 overs.
In the last match, England won the toss and decided to do fielding first. Although Sri Lanka was into trouble started the innings, soon they recovered the situation. In the fifth over, opener and captain Dilshan became run out adding only 9 runs to the scoreboard. Then Chandimal came to play and also became run out scoring 5 runs in 10th over. Then the former successful captain oof Sri Lanka, Sangakkara came to the crease and made a good partnership with the opener Jayawardene. They lead the scoreboard from 45 runs to 204 runs. Sangakkara became out in 39th over scoring 69 runs from 85 balls with 5 boundaries. After him, Mathews also played well and remained not out up to the last scoring 46 runs. Jayawardene got his 15th century of his ODI career. He added 144 runs to the scoreboard from 150 balls with 14 boundaries before of his becoming out in 46th over. At last, the score became 309 for Sri Lanka. Swann got 2 wickets and Bresnan 1 wicket for England.
In order to chase the run of Sri Lanka, England started well. They added 53 runs in the opening partnership. Kieswetter became out in 11th over scoring 25 runs with 2 fours and 1 six. Another opener Cook added 48 runs on the scoreboard playing 52 balls and made 5 boundaries to play that run. Besides, Trott, Morgan and Bell added 39, 52 and 35 runs respectively. But due to the failure of the trail-enders England had to become all out in 240 runs. Lakmal and Randiv of Sri Lanka both hunted 3 wickets each. Mendis, Malinga and Kulasekara got 2, 1 and 1 wickets respectively. Jayawardene became the man of the match.
