An inspirational water sculpture. Simple and effective. Wow! When starting a design it is sometimes good to think like water. Fluid. Simple.
This water "sculpture" by Shinichi Maruyama shows how art can be captivation, while being simple beyond belief.
When I first saw this video I thought to myself, Why couldn't I have thought of that. That is exactly what great design does. It provokes thought and feelings. It can be familiar, or completely different but whatever it is it has to crawl into our minds and make us think.
So next time you sit down to create, and make. Think what someone would do if they thought like you. Hey that rhymes. By the way rhymes aren't bad either.
“Life is not complex. We are complex. Life is simple, and the simple thing is the right thing.” — Oscar Wilde

Ard Studio has created a polaroid meets Instagram concept with a design based on their logo. Ard Studio has created a polaroid meets Instagram concept with a design based on their logo. As if one billion didn't already make the company iconic, Ard Studio further pushes Instagram into pop culture history if they meet their goals on Indiegogo.
The camera would be a 16GB WIFi enabled camera that looks just like the Instagram logo. The concept features a flat 4:3 touch screen, WiFi and bluetooth function for instant sharing to Facebook, Led flash and optical zoom, two camera lenses for regular and filter shots, and even a 4 color printer for the polaroid fans out there.
The concept, titled Instagram Socialmatic makes your photo cool as you want and share it directly on Facebook trough the powerful InstaOs. If you want, you can print it directly on Instagram Paper Sheets, thanks to the internal printer.
Every Instagram printed photo reports on front side your Instagram nickname and a QR code, to be followed by another Instagrammer, simply pointing his/her Socialmatic on your printed QR Code.
This because Instagram Paper Sheets has a retro side with a glue strip, just like a post-it. You can share in the real world your photo, printing your emotions and sensations.
I guess I'd say, drop 'instagram' and call it Socialmatic.

I just saw this and my mind was blow away by the innovation in this art piece. Daniele Franke (We Are Chopchop) and Cedric Kiefer (onformative) took Microsoft Kinect to new heights in what it can do by creating a pixel dancing sculpture, reminiscent of Sandman in Spiderman 3.
The basic idea of the project is built upon the consideration of creating a moving sculpture from the recorded motion data of a real person. For our work we asked a dancer to visualize a musical piece (Kreukeltape by Machinenfabriek) as closely as possible by movements of her body. She was recorded by three depth cameras (Kinect), in which the intersection of the images was later put together to a three-dimensional volume (3d point cloud), so we were able to use the collected data throughout the further process.
The three-dimensional image allowed us a completely free handling of the digital camera, without limitations of the perspective. The camera also reacts to the sound and supports the physical imitation of the musical piece by the performer. She moves to a noise field, where a simple modification of the random seed can consistently create new versions of the video, each offering a different composition of the recorded performance. The multi-dimensionality of the sound sculpture is already contained in every movement of the dancer, as the camera footage allows any imaginable perspective.

Artist Simon Wilches shows us "How to cook a Ramen cup of Noodles." Columbian animator, illustrator and overall artist Simon Wilches expresses his creativity with the techniques he uses. For this blog, you'll see how he constructed "How to cook a Ramen cup of Noodles." He goes from basic storyboard, polishing/adding details, defining and developing the main character "Ultraman," to inking, adding analog and digitalizing it up a bit. That's a lot of work. But lots of passion.

How do you translate music into visuals? Antonio Vivaldi, Italian 18th century artist composed the baroque masterpiece of "Lesquatrestacions," or "The Four Seasons." If you ever wondered how it look like to translate the four violin concerto score into geometric shapes and colors, you can see Barcelona's Mot Studio's Graphic Designer, Laia Clos' version in poster form. She created her own musical notation system called "SisTeMu” to demonstrate visually. Buy posters here.

Shawn Smith has created a series of "Re-Things" in which he creates three-dimensional sculptural representations of two-dimensional objects of nature to express the concept of experiencing nature through technology. Conveyed through objects is the pixelation of images through these mediums, abstraction and distortion. Chulsoo and Younghee are central characters from popular illustrated Korean children’s books. Much like Jack and Jill for readers of English, these two are well known in Korea, and typically appear engaged in routine daily activities such as playing with their pets or attending school.
For his series The Text Book (Chulsoo & Younghee), Suk Kuhn Oh employed the two figures in a conceptual exploration of personal traumas experienced by fellow Koreans, particularly those remembered from childhood. To do so, he fabricated large doll-like masks of Chulsoo and Younghee and posed his subjects wearing them – including himself – in dramatic re-enactments of their own vivid memories.
Oh’s color images are simultaneously biographical and anonymous. He describes his Chulsoo and Younghee stagings as confessional; they are attempts to reconcile seemingly idyllic public lives with painful private experience. “We may not exactly decipher their actions or feelings, but we can remember parallel moments in our own lives of hurt, embarrassment, shame, or other mortifications.”

Suk Kuhn Oh was born in Inchon, South Korea. After serving as a photographer in the Korean army, he received a degree in photography from the School of Art and Design at Nottingham Trent University in England. His work has been exhibited in the UK, South Korea, Australia, and the US, and is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and the Ilmin Museum, Seoul.

German artists Hera and Akut have been operating under the name of Herakut since 2004 when they began producing collaborative pieces in the burgeoning street art scene. The visual and textual content of their work is an insightful expression of their generation’s mental state. Herakut are masters of creating independent, self-contained worlds full of melancholy and profound humor. In doing so, they see themselves as a part of an overall cultural movement, without any artistic barriers.
